Anderson, Brad

Brad Anderson is the founder and head trainer at Anderson Mule Company, based in
Western Kentucky. With 27 years of hands-on experience, Brad has earned a reputation
throughout the region and beyond as “the mule man,” known for producing dependable,
versatile, and mentally solid saddle mules.
Brad’s approach to mule training is built on respect for the animal’s intelligence and
individuality. He specializes in developing mules that are not only reliable on the trail, but
capable of excelling in a wide range of disciplines. From the arena—where his mules
confidently handle events—to the backcountry, where they pack elk out of rugged mountain
terrain, Brad’s program emphasizes real-world usefulness and adaptability.
“What I love most about working with mules is their versatility,” Brad says. “Being able to
take a highly intelligent animal and develop it into something that can perform in the arena
and then turn around and handle tough mountain work is what makes this so rewarding.
What matters most to me is bringing out the full potential of each individual mule.”
Every mule that leaves Anderson Mule Company is carefully prepared to handle demanding
conditions. “When our mules leave our barn, I know they’re ready to work, but more
importantly, trusted to ride,” Brad adds.
Brad is married to Amy Anderson. He is the proud father of two daughters, stepfather to one
daughter and 3 sons, and Poppy to Cody and Callaghan. Family, tradition, and a deep
respect for good stock are at the core of both his life and his work.
