DESCRIPTION | Hoss
If you are looking for a mule that's tough and strong with a big ol' work ethic, then Hoss is the guy for you. Hoss has put in a lot of hard days with us, but we’ve never found a bottom to him and he always has gas in the tank to get you home. Hoss has done most every manner of ranch and cattle work, roped the sled, and drug calves at brandings. We’ve used him to pony packhorses, flag colts, and sort bulls. Hoss is an excellent mountain mule, he’s been to elk camp and fishing camp, and he’ll ride out alone or in a group. Hoss also packs, hobbles, highlines, and pickets. He’s happy to climb in the rocks or head down a trail, he's smooth and fun to ride with a huge ground-covering walk. Hoss prefers ranch work or the mountains, but he’s also been to town. He doesn't have the fanciest handle but he’ll stop, back, side pass, walk, trot, lope, picks up both leads, lopes a fair circle, works gates, crosses obstacles, and he is traffic safe. He's even been ridden English and has done some very introductory level jumping. Hoss rides with our local drill/flag team, he’s been in his fair share of parades, given pony rides for kids and grandpas, and he’s been a “beer burro” at a wedding. Hoss is good for the farrier, good for the vet, good to catch/load/tie/clip/flyspray/wash/etc. He does not require any sort of special maintenance. Hoss is good with time off, but he is always excited to get back at it. Hoss has a big motor, loves to go to work, but is still kind and gentle to be around.
