DESCRIPTION | Modelo
Meet Modelo, the striking blue roan molly mule with a cool demeanor. She's not just a pretty face – Modelo has been an integral part of basic ranch work, excelling in tasks such as gathering cattle, riding pens in feedlots, processing cattle, loading trucks, and penning cattle at stockyards. Despite her age, Modelo's experience surpasses mules twice her age. I personally halter broke and started Modelo, and she spent a year with Scott and Sandy Sallee of Black Mountain Outfitters in their pack string. As the second in the pack string, Modelo proved to be a dream packer, efficiently carrying food, gear, hay, and keeping up with the other mules.
Upon returning to my riding string, Modelo showcased her versatility as an all-around mule for me and my family. Whether it's play days, ranch work, parades, or various other activities, Modelo has become a cherished member of our team. Modelo boasts a fast ground-covering walk, maintains a level head, and rides with a loose rein in the bridle. Her smooth extended trot and Cadillac lope make her a joy to ride. Handling tasks like body clipping, saddling, bridling, loading, and shoeing is a breeze with Modelo. She's comfortable with being washed and pampered, displaying exceptional behavior with her ears. Having participated in two parades and a downtown cattle drive, Modelo effortlessly handles people, traffic, and commotion. She is calm and keeps a respectful distance when on the trail, making her suitable for novice or experienced riders on mountain trails, poker rides, or leisurely afternoons of sightseeing and photography. Modelo is unfazed by drones. She navigates rough terrain, moves through thick brush under her belly, conquers big logs, and maneuvers through tight spots.
